Community support at Christmas …
Thank you to everybody who donated, fund raised and/or volunteered their time to our Christmas campaign so far. We love our community, not least because of your incredible generosity which shows you really care and are happy to share.
We are already in December and so this is a big push to help raise much needed funds for our HUB – can you help?

The success of the HUB largely depends on funding. The Northern Beaches Council, philanthropic organisations, individuals donating funds from the local community have made us happen. The Hub has been in operation for 18 months providing access to support services – in a safe space for young people – their families and support persons on the upper Northern Beaches.
We continue to provide mental wellness support and promote awareness and acceptance of mental health issues through destigmatising the very act of seeking help!
Young people have come to love the Hub: “it’s fantastic” and “it works really well”.

The Hub has exceeded expectations, in particular, the attendance at BBQs on Wednesdays. The Hub is a mix of outreach, drop-in, assessment, counselling and referral service where previously there were none.
The Hub is a place for young people to find help with family conflict, couch surfing and homelessness, drugs and alcohol, school issues, mental health, job seeking and other issues that may arise.
We need funds to keep going
- Promoting the Hub with youth and their families
- In building capacity to support more young people and their families
- To continue our Outreach Wednesdays – an important prevention and entry strategy
- To employ staff and pay wages
- To provide training such as mental health first aid training
- Build more community partnerships such as the one we have with The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

The Avalon Youth Hub is currently funded by Northern Beaches Council and a generous philanthropist until June 30 2020. The funding covers our core staffing and operational needs so any additional funding achieved will go towards expanding our workshop program, contracting specialist youth staff as required or enhancing our youth engagement program.
